The prevailing source of radon affecting most of Colorado is naturally occurring radium deposits found in the geology of the Rocky Mountains. Surveys have indicated that 43.6% of homes in Colorado have the potential of being above the United States Environmental Protection Agencys (U.S. EPA) recommended "action level" of 4 picoCuries per liter of air (pCi/L) The U.S. EPA and the U.S. Surgeon General recommend that people not be exposed to more than 4 pCi/L of radiation from radon on a long-term basis.

E-470 TOLL Highway
E-470 is a toll highway that runs along the eastern perimeter of the Denver metropolitan area. The 47-mile beltway extends from State Highway C-470 at I-25 in Douglas County south of Denver, runs east and then north through Aurora, passes along the western edge of the Denver International Airport, and turns back towards the west, terminating at I-25 on the north end of the metropolitan area just south of 160th Avenue.
